Flag of the United Kingdom
The flag of the United Kingdom, known as the Union Jack or Union Flag, is blue with a combination of crosses. A red upright cross edged in white sits in the center, on top of a white diagonal cross and a narrower red diagonal cross. The red diagonals are slightly offset, so the flag looks different when it is flown upside down.

Meaning of the flag of the United Kingdom
The flag joins the crosses of three patron saints: the red cross of St. George for England, the white saltire on blue of St. Andrew for Scotland, and the red saltire of St. Patrick for Ireland. Wales is not represented because it was already united with England when the first union flag was created. The current design dates from 1801, when Great Britain and Ireland were united.
