All maps on Atlas of Maps are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0): you can download, print and use them in class, in homework, in presentations, in books or on your website, including for commercial purposes, as long as you credit the source.
How to credit
Below the map, or in your bibliography, this is enough:
Map of … · Atlas of Maps (atlasofmaps.com), CC BY 4.0
On a website, please link to the page of the map. Every map page has a ready-to-copy code snippet.
Data sources
- Natural Earth (naturalearthdata.com): borders of countries and first-level divisions, lakes and names of seas. Public domain. The United States worldview is used, and the India worldview for the map of India.
- geoBoundaries (geoboundaries.org, William & Mary geoLab): boundaries of the first-level divisions of some countries where Natural Earth is out of date, under open licenses (CC BY 3.0 IGO or CC BY 4.0, depending on the country) from the national sources.
- Wikidata: capitals, population, area, languages and currencies. CC0.
- Wikimedia Commons: images of the flags. Most are in the public domain; the license and author of each one are listed on its page.
Flags
The flags are not covered by the CC BY 4.0 license of the maps: they follow the license given on Wikimedia Commons (mostly public domain).
