Meaning of the flag of Slovakia
White, blue and red are Pan-Slavic colors, the same as on the Russian flag, and the coat of arms helps tell the two apart. The double cross reflects the Christian heritage brought by Saints Cyril and Methodius, and the three hills are usually identified as the Tatra, Fatra and Mátra ranges. The flag was adopted in 1992, shortly before Slovakia became independent in 1993.
