Meaning of the flag of Jordan
The design is based on the flag of the Arab Revolt of 1916. The black, white and green stripes stand for the Abbasid, Umayyad and Fatimid caliphates, and the red triangle for the Hashemite dynasty, which led the revolt and still rules Jordan. The seven points of the star refer to the seven verses of the first chapter of the Quran. The flag was adopted in 1928.
