The Gulf of Mexico covers about 1,550,000 km² (598,000 sq mi) and reaches a maximum depth of about 4,384 m (14,383 ft). Countries with a coast on the Gulf of Mexico: Mexico, the United States and Cuba.
The blue outline marks the Gulf of Mexico as mapped by Natural Earth. Towns and cities on the map include Mexico City, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Monterrey, Puebla City and Havana. Labeled states and countries: Mexico, Cuba, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
Greens show lower elevations; tan and brown show higher land, with pale tones toward the highest terrain. Shadows emphasize the slopes, and vertical relief is exaggerated so landforms are easier to read. Dashed lines show country borders, and fine dashed lines show state or province borders.
The relief uses Terrain Tiles (SRTM, GMTED2010 and ETOPO1 elevation data). Rivers, lakes, borders and the outline of the Gulf of Mexico come from Natural Earth, and the figures on this page from Wikidata. Natural Earth draws features at a small scale, so the outline is a guide to where the Gulf of Mexico is, not a surveyed boundary.
