How to read this map

The Persian Gulf covers about 251,000 km² (96,900 sq mi) and reaches a maximum depth of about 90 m (295 ft). Countries with a coast on the Persian Gulf: Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq.

The blue outline marks the Persian Gulf as mapped by Natural Earth. Towns and cities on the map include Riyadh, Kuwait City, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Shiraz, Ahwaz and Basra. Labeled countries: Iran and United Arab Emirates.

Greens show lower elevations; tan and brown show higher land, with pale tones toward the highest terrain. Shadows emphasize the slopes, and vertical relief is exaggerated so landforms are easier to read. Dashed lines show country borders.

The relief uses Terrain Tiles (SRTM, GMTED2010 and ETOPO1 elevation data). Rivers, lakes, borders and the outline of the Persian Gulf come from Natural Earth, and the figures on this page from Wikidata. Natural Earth draws features at a small scale, so the outline is a guide to where the Persian Gulf is, not a surveyed boundary.
